my wait to start light has started to flash on and off after I have crunk my truck up. I wait for the light to go off before I crank it. Anyone?

Nothing wrong with that as long as it stops within a few minutes of the engine running.

My 'wait to start' light flashes 5 times after every start up. As it flashes something is straining the electrical system as it dims the lights with each flash. I can also hear in the engine compartment a clicking sound with each flash from possibly the module.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rob

This is normal. When a truck starts it is not always running on all cylinders. The wait to start light flashes because the glow plugs are still being heated untill all cylinders are firing.

Just this morning after I had replaced both batteries and gave them a recharge my "wait to start" lamp was flashing repeatedly and the engine wouldn't fire up. After a few key cycles it was fine. A relearn process after the long downtime of no batteries maybe?

the lights diming is just the strain on the electrical system from the glow plugs heating up. and the click is the solenoid that runs the glow plugs. mine has always done the same thing

My truck used to fire and the light would go out and not come back on for 5yrs now.

Recently in the last few months it comes on and off for a couple minutes and then stays off.

It still starts easy , but i was told it was probably burnt out glow plugs. I will find out for sure when it goes into the shop in the next couple weeks.

So why does it do this? The truck seems to start fine and run fine, especially when its already warm. I thought I have a problem because the 'draw' dims all the lights for a split second as the 'wait to start' light flashes 5 times and it happens at every start. It's very consistant. I know my entire charging system is working properly (good batteries and new alternator).

Thanks a lot!!

Also, I replaced all the glow plugs trying to 'fix' it.
