    Default Body Lift Possible?

I want a 3" body lift for the '96 4x4 (it already has 6" suspension) and move on up to 38" tires.

I've had a couple of people tell me they couldn't put a body lift on this truck because of the location of the turbo. Surely there's a practical way around this!

I've seen lots of people with 6.5s talk about it.

It is possible...just put injectors and a turbo on a truck with a 3" body lift. Everything cleared, the downpipe was touching the fenderwell, but other then that, it looked all good

    Cool

ok i put a three inch suspension lift on my truck two years ago and the only reason was that i had heard all these people tell me that the turbo would hit well over the summer me and my buddy were lookin at tucks on line and just got cusiouse and so i looked up lifted 6.5t were goin for and all these 6.5s had body lft so i called some of them and they said no different than a gasser so i looked into it more i bought a 3 inch body lift for a 88 to 94 moddel truck for reall cheap and figured all else fails i sell it but on the instruction it says will not work on diesel so i called them up and talked to there machanics they said that it is no different at all from gas but the thing was they run even hotter than the already hot running 6.5 because the fact of you raise the bumper infront of your radiator that restrains airflow and they dont want to be resposeble for any 6.5s over heating the guy said that if you have aftermarket fan like the duramax 9 blade fan it would be just fine

OK, so the location of the turbo isn't a big problem? That's what one of the big off-road shops in Houston told me.

The turbo in my '96 seems to take up a lot more room than than my '93. Could that be the problem?

i dont see the problem i would see if i could find any six five for sale or ask any one with a 96 on here if they have one and see any differences that they have to make because i do no that 94 and 95 are different computer and different injection pump are different but i never heard the turbo it might be

Have a 3in body lift on my 95. Its tight by the turbo but it will clear. I tweaked my inner fender a bit for piece of mind. Mines only a daily driver and rarely tows but the only overheating/running hot issue ive had is when i got stuck plowing snow. Still have all stock cooling system. The fan shroud isnt as effective with the body lift

oh and the reason every one tells you the turbo will hit is cuz just about every other diesel including the duramax has no space i don't no if its just cuz the turbo intercooler or what but it takes up cwit a bit of room
