Need a little help with a problem from you guys

I used to post and be on here a while back, but haven't had many problems with the trucks and bought a D-max back in 2015. I put my 97 in storage and only use the 98 for hauling gravel and plowing snow in the winter months. The motor in the 98 only has about 22,000 miles on a rebuilt engine with new injectors. The problem I have been trying to defeat for a while is a poor idle condition during the winter months. It is there during the summer too, but not hardly noticeable. As the weather gets cooler, the motor runs erratic on idle. It chugs away like it has a big cam and runs really rich and loads up while varing it's speed a little . If anyone else asked me what could cause these problems, I'd say change the PCM. But done that, I have tried several different pump drivers ( none new, but none have this problem on another truck) and doesn't change the problem. I changed both the sensors on the intake manifold, I changed the heating element and the filter thinking for sure the heater was it. Notta. The electric transfer pump is building pressure too. Here's something strange, when it's running bad, if you unplug the manifold temp sensor, the motor straightens up for a few seconds before going back to rough idle. I question the accelerator pedal because it has the won't accelerate smooth and linear but I've tried 3 different ones and they all act the same. I can't remember how to check them with an OHM meter. I was debating a bad injector, but they only have 20K on them too. Still could be bad? Something changes as it gets colder.

Sounds a bit like the constant problem with the mechanical IP on the 6.2, it was damp fuel causing droplets of water in the IP that rusted parts and made their movement sticky. It was cured in a minute by pouring 1/2 cup of water removing additive into the fuel filter. Other suggestion if additive doesn't work, swap in the ECM from the other truck.

Strange thing Grant, I went out plowing last night and the truck fires up running like crap, and ran that way for about an hour or so chugging away. I happened to pick up about 10 gallon of fuel from a Mobil station I rarely buy fuel. I drove directly to a friend house and sat there in truck talking to him with the truck running and while I was sitting there talking the truck smoothed out and starting running good?? I always use Lucas additive in my fuel, but recent read a post on Dura-Max forum with data showing Lucas is junk. I think I will start using Opti-Lube now, but I think I'll dump in some power service 911 that I have in the shop to try that. Something changed last night?? We got a pile more snow last night, so I'll get to see if it's still running good today. I'm really really getting to old for snow. Not sure I'm ready to move to Mexico with you, but warming climate winter months have to be coming soon for me!
We picked up a large 5th wheel camper with 3 slides to pull behind the new truck that would make a nice place to spend the winter months somewhere else, but we have to small problem called one of us still have to work for our medical insurance for another 9 years or start paying for it completely.

That's good, an easy fix, the gas stations here have Bardhal additive, not spelled right, good price and works. Temperature in the winter here is very nice, shorts and T-shirt most of the time.

Nope still doing it. Really bad when it cold and less after it warms up. I didn't mention this before, but at least after it's warm it doesn't miss and chug when it's in gear. When you put it in Park it misses and pull it back in drive or reverse and it stops. I believe that to be un-related and just be a change in the load of the motor myself, but I could be wrong. I am really leaning toward a bad injector that just doesn't like the thicker fuel in the winter. Even thou they are low mileage they were junk right from the start. I bought a set of marine injectors from Pennso#### diesel and had to replace 2 almost instantly. They had some form of animal hair on them when I removed from the box!
Just looked at the outdoor thermometer and it's -11 degree below 0 F here right now. That really in the suck category!

The bosses dog had been sleeping with the injectors. I only know that kind of temperature from repairing the walk in freezer, horrible. I had to put a rebuilt IP on the 95 GMC after buying it, to get it down here, was from Pennso--- cheap and turned out to be good. Sounds a bit like the injector is dribbling, perhaps sticking open slightly, so won't spray at no load, use more additive. This is my 4 th attempt to send, I started yesterday. Woohoo, en fin, lucky for auto save, most of the post is saved.

I agree. Load it up with additive.Possibly put it right in fuel filter housing. Will hopefully clean the one or more injectors that are sticking.You'll kn ow when it is clean and not sticking.

Sound like were on the same page with that dirty injector and the cold. Wish I could say the same about only experiencing those temps by only working on freezers. The next night it got down to -14F. Were in a cold snap that is suppose to last for a while. You talk about a terrible noise, you should hear a 6.5 fire up at that temp. Just plain hurts your ears
