Default Dash quit now truck wonít start

I was using my truck yesterday with no problem. I went poking around by the fuel filter looking for a fuel leak (didnít find source). A while later I went to move the truck and the Speedo, tach, SES, brake, glow plug and others did not light up, but the truck started. I drove it a bit and it seemed fine otherwise. The turn signals and high beams worked but nothing else. Today itíll crank and I have fuel but no start. Is my ECM shot? Is there a way to tell? I canít check codes, no SES light.

Update: 20a “gauges” fuse blows when I turn the key. I have removed gauge cluster and unplugged ECM.

Go to the fuel filter area, and look for a shorted wire, seeing as the problem happened while poking around there. When you say you have fuel, do you mean from the lift pump or from an injector? It is unlikely to be the ECM. The water in fuel sensor at the bottom of the filter, connects to a light on the gage panel.

Got it. I unbolted and flipped the filter housing and the two wires going into the heater have the insulation pulled back about 1/4 inch and are definitely shorting. Thanks for your help, Grant.
