Default Mechanical wastegate control

After experiments with different springs connected by fence wire to the front panel, I made this afternoon a permanent system. It as a parking brake return spring from something. The photos don't show it well, but has a lever so that the adjustment is up high to make it easy to adjust. If anyone wants a really good photo of it, I'll remove it to take the shot. I am trying to cancel this as the photos are too big will re take them tomorrow. Ok one was accepted.

i just bought the turbomaster and the install was easy and you get preset instruction for stock or a chip i can light up the tires now

Only a boost guage, I still have all of the sensores connected so if temp or pressure goes too high the SES light comes on and the computer defuels. But you can over boost for a short time with no cut back or SES light, good for overtaking.

In that picture it appears as tho the spring is horizontal. The actuator on mine is verticle. Is mine different or am i looking at that wrong?

The spring is verticle for your year, you should be able to make a simple adjustable system for yours.

I have the turbo master as well. It was easy to install. Most importantly, it has a spring that is calibrated specifically to the application. Seems risky to just put any old spring on there. But if you have a boost gauge, as I see you do, you can monitor the boost. My understanding is that you should be at 3lbs boost at 65 mph and according to Boost Master, do not exceed 15lbs boost, due to loss of efficiency of the turbo past that.

Thanks for that info, I haven't used mine since the final change, so have to adjust it. It was assisting the original system before, and giving 4 1/2 psi at 65 mph which I thought to high so changed to mechanical.

I just built a manual unit today..... I cannibalized the vacuum actuator, removed the canister, welded all thread to the end of the stock rod, and use a large spring with a fender washer and jammed nuts.. Total cost: about 45 mins of labor and about 1 hr trying different springs and tensions to get the right boost.... No $100 for a TurboMaster!

Works great. will have to get pics up soon.

Also, there are now NO vacuum lines, valves, or turbo actuators under the hood now.... The vacuum pump will go by-by once the fan belt needs replacing..... The line from it is plugged, might as well let it hang around until the fan belt needs replacing.......
